About Us & Location

The club opened in 2009 as a private business although very few of our original members had bowled before. As a result everyone has grown and developed together, leavened by the addition of some more experienced bowlers, keeping the standard of the Club at a competitive level across the membership. Indeed, several of our members currently represent Malaga province.

In 2011 the owners of the Club passed control to the Club Members and since then it has been run as a non-profit Members Club. All of the buildings and development of the Club facilities has been carried out by the Members themselves and we continue to develop the grounds, with a new extension to the Pavilion recently completed. We now also have shading for bowlers when they are standing at both ends of all the rinks.

We hold several Club Competitions throughout the season and the highlight of our year is the Lauro Festival. At a time when bowls membership in general is declining, we are very happy to have attracted a steady influx of new bowlers, offering them Coaching and continued “mentoring” as they learn this fascinating sport and integrate with the Club.

Last, but not least, here at Lauro Golf Bowls Club we are pleased to welcome visiting teams to our home – anything up to 25 Touring sides, mainly from the UK. Most of these are here on bowling holidays with one of the specialist Bowls Holiday companies but we also have a smattering of independently arranged Tours as well..

Most visiting Clubs choose to tour in either October or March and so our schedule can be a little full at these times – we often find ourselves playing 4 different Clubs in a week. While the games themselves are competitive we also play in a friendly spirit and the results rarely matter – as long as we enjoy ourselves. With bar prices being well below those of the UK, it is safe to say the guests enjoy socialising too!

We recommend booking your Bowls holiday through one of the specialist companies, but should you wish to book a match independently, you can contact our Secretary, Jane Richardson, on secretary@laurogolfbowlsclub.com

How to find us and make contact

Lauro Golf Club is set in the Guadalhorce Valley in Málaga Province, on the A404 between the towns of Alhaurin de la Torre and Alhaurin el Grande close to KM marker 14 (you turn off at about 13.8km).

About 200 metres later, turn right into the Lauro Golf Club car park and follow the road around the apartment block to the Bowling Green. The Bowling Green is situated behind the apartment block which faces the Golf Clubhouse.

Coming from Alhaurín el Grande – pass the Mirador Hotel (on your left) and a little later Venta la Recta on your right hand side.
On your left – a few hundred metres later, you’ll see a large white arch just inside the entrance to the Lauro Golf Club urbanización – go straight past.
Turn left at the next entrance into the golf club car park and follow the road around the apartment block to the Bowling Green.

The total journey distance from Alhaurín el Grande to the bowls club is approx. 6 KM.
